Siti Hamidah Grabs Second Place in Research Competition

Siti Hamidah Mohd Setapar, an MML member, from Malaysia University of Technology, a PhD Student of Loughborough University, has grabbed the second place in the ‘What’s new in fluids seperation’ competition, organized by IChemE (The Institute of Chemical Engineers UK), held at GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), Stevenage, London, on 30th May 2008 through her PhD project entitled ‘Reverse Micellar Liquid-Liquid Extraction of a Pharmaceutical Product’. She was awarded £300.

Judged by four well respected juries: Professor Richard Darton from University of Oxford, Mr. Stephen Coombs from Moulson-Chemplant Ltd., and Dr. Darren Oatley and Mr. Christopher Pink, from GSK, and attracted participants from numerous top universities around the UK: University of Cambridge, Imperial College, Nottingham University, Manchester University and Loughborough University; this competition is highly competitive. Her achievement was prestigious. Mr Julio Sacramento-Rivero from Manchester University is the first place winner, while Mr. Muhammad Imran Ahmad (Manchester University) and Mayyada El-Sayed (University of Cambridge) sharing as the third place winners.
